Rise to Fame
He spent a decade in a fat suit, fake teeth, and ear prosthetics, contractually barred from fixing his naturally crooked teeth because Neville Longbottom wasn't supposed to be attractive. For most of the series, he was comic relief in someone else's story. Then Deathly Hallows Part 2 arrived and Neville killed a snake and led a resistance. Helena Bonham Carter accidentally ruptured his eardrum during Order of the Phoenix, which is the most appropriate footnote to his early Potter years.
In the Spotlight
He's said publicly he 'wasn't prepared at all' for life after the franchise and feared he couldn't hack it as a working actor. That worry wasn't unfounded. Rather than a movie star, he became a reliable presence in British TV drama: Ripper Street, Happy Valley, All Creatures Great and Small, and Murder Before Evensong in 2025. He's not the one who fills cinemas, but he keeps getting work, which is its own kind of success in an industry littered with former child stars who didn't.

He met his wife Angela Jones at Universal Orlando's Harry Potter fan celebration in January 2016, where she worked as a VIP event manager. He proposed by November and they married in Italy in 2018. Before acting became his career, he had plans to join the Royal Air Force. He co-hosts 'Doing a Leeds,' a Leeds United podcast with former footballer Jermaine Beckford. The fat-suit-to-football-podcast trajectory is not one most casting directors saw coming.
