Scrubs (Turk)

Rise to Fame

Murray in Clueless (1995) was the funny boyfriend, slang-heavy and impossible to ignore. It got him a spin-off series and a reputation as a comedic supporting player. Then Scrubs came along in 2001, and Dr. Chris Turk, the goofy surgeon best friend, ran for nine seasons and left every buddy sitcom after it fighting for the same energy. The J.D./Turk bromance worked because both actors sold it like their careers depended on it, which they kind of did.

In the Spotlight

The Scrubs revival premiered on ABC in February 2026, and Faison was back as Turk after a sixteen-year gap, which tells you something about how durable that character turned out to be. He got ahead of the revival with Fake Doctors, Real Friends, a Scrubs rewatch podcast he launched with Zach Braff during the COVID lockdowns in March 2020. Between the podcast, the revival, and Extended Family on NBC, he's turned 'the guy from Scrubs' into a sustainable job description.

Side Notes

He co-wrote a play with his mother at age six called When the Lion Roars, attended La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts (same as Jennifer Aniston), and grew up with parents in the National Black Theatre. All of that sounds like destiny. The more accurate explanation is the yearbook committee: junior year, he got on it and put his face on every page. His brother Olamide is a musician. Some families just produce performers.
