Buzz McCallister was the older brother every younger sibling recognized: the bully who ate your pizza and got away with it. Ratray played him across Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2 (1992), leaning into Buzz's casual cruelty just enough to make Macaulay Culkin's revenge satisfying. He started acting at nine, had small parts before landing the role, but nothing before or after ever came close to mattering as much. He returned for Home Sweet Home Alone (2021), making him the only actor who kept showing up for the reunion nobody quite asked for.
In February 2024, Ratray pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic violence, including domestic assault and battery by strangulation, over a 2021 incident with a girlfriend. He got a 3-year suspended sentence and probation, plus a mandatory Batterers Intervention Program. The case dragged on for over two years, briefly delayed in January 2024 when he landed in the hospital with heart issues. He's largely stepped back from acting since.
He showed up in Dennis the Menace (1993), R.I.P.D. (2013), and Mosaic (2017), none of which built into anything. Strangest credit: voicing pedestrians in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018). Outside acting, he plays guitar and sings in a New York band called Little Bill and the Beckleys, with Bill Mumy (the kid from Lost in Space) as a bandmate. The Home Alone nostalgia circuit kept the phone ringing longer than most 90s child actors manage.
